AFACCT would like to invite you to invest some time during the summer and fall to develop a proposal for the upcoming 30th Annual AFACCT Conference, January 10 & 11, 2020 at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Catonsville, MD.
The AFACCT 2020 Conference theme is “Global learning: Reflecting on the past, looking to the future.”
This year’s conference focuses on how global education enables our students to develop an appreciation of our interdependency in sharing our local, regional as well as the world’s resources to meet our needs. It also concentrates on the community college system of Maryland’s commitment to playing a key role in providing our students the opportunity to succeed in a global society as they evolve into the next generation of leaders.
Topics that relate to the conference theme “Global learning: Reflecting on the past, looking to the future.” may include how one might:
- Review and discuss how global learning within the community college system has changed in time with the development of the internet.
- Demonstrate how service learning and global education assists our urban populations as we strive to enhance our students’ understanding of global problems.
- Enable our students to understand that we have a set of common problems shared on a global scale.
- Empower our 21st century community college students by developing their global skills.
- Develop our students’ respect for indigenous and foreign cultures using local resources.
- Make the classroom a center of global education reform.
- Review best practices to create a more supportive and inclusive campus environment for our international students.
- Understand the inherent problems of global education needed to enable our students to solve the problems of the communities they serve.
- Demonstrate how students make a local and global impact through global-scholar programs.
