What a great conference!

Hello Everyone,

Many thanks for your participation in the 32nd AFACCT Conference! While Covid necessitated a virtual format, we were impressed by the engagement in the conversation forums and ice breakers that you all initiated. We had over 1,300 messages posted, 111 articles shared, and 32 messages about other conferences our faculty might be interested in!  The enthusiasm for learning and sharing makes it clear that Maryland Community Colleges are amazing.

We were also, as always, so impressed with the outstanding presentations given by our colleagues throughout Maryland. Our Friday Keynote Dr. Tina Smith gave us great tools to continue building on all our attributes that make us effective teachers!  With a total of 525 participants and 74 presentations, we had a very full and rewarding 2 day conference.   Our heartfelt thanks to our 118 speakers.  As our Thursday Keynote Comptroller Franchot stated “Our community colleges are Maryland at its best”.

The AFACCT Board are planning for next year. We are hoping that we will all be experiencing a new normal by then with the pandemic in our rearview mirrors.  We want to highlight all the new skills we forged and resources we developed throughout the pandemic as we build an engaging and vibrant new academic environment in Maryland.  Next year’s theme will be Let’s Engage, allowing us to showcase how we throw ourselves into learning and teaching at our best.
